So, I've been wanting to experiment with Skyrim's engine. I figured it'd give me a little challenge to be able to model & texture an actual game model instead of the usual Marmoset or UDK render. I finally chose a simple sword & and shield for my Nord ranger :P
I'm following a few tutorials, but surprisingly, they aren't as common as I thought they would be (giving the ungodly amount of mods out there). Still can't get the scab and my shield in-game but eh, I'll find a way eventually.
It's a pretty simple sword, but I still got to work on the actual texture because, as you can see, it loses a lot of it's charm in-game : s It's gonna be mostly specular/reflection map tweaks, as well as some color-adjustment.
Looking for criticism, advice, and maybe some tips from Gamebryo modding veterans!

I think the shield looks odd so far, it definitely needs more work, external advice would be nice!
I'll try to put a little more damage on the head, I didn't want to go overboard, 'cause I still did want it to look like a sturdy shield, but I'll accentuate what I've got so far.
I'll revisit the back of the shield too. Maybe it should have some stains or more visible sratches, give it some more love I guess, haha. Posting as soon as I've got something.
And just the back, maybe an inset making the metal cover the wood more is what I meant. With a pattern or something.
The only missing thing is actually setting up a custom sword & shield instead of overwriting current models like now. Skyrim makes everything so flat, it's disappointing. So I made a Marmoset render too.

Now that I somewhat know the correct worflow for Skyrim assets, I'm motivated to start some more mod work later on. This is fun
