The Producer coordinates the efforts of the creative leadership of artists and production staff. This role creates and executes the overall strategy and production plan, and oversees the master schedule and budget. The Producer contributes to the development and improvement of the production workflow. This role is also the primary liaison between the crew and the client.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES· Partner with the Director and manage the creative leadership team in managing, motivating and creating an environment conducive to achieving quotas and artistic achievements
· Lead by example with best practices of people management
· Coordinate the efforts of a team of artists and production staff with assistance from Assistant Production Manager, starting in pre-production through the delivery of the final colour film
· Create overall strategy and production plan for the feature in conjunction with Head of Production, and communicate overall production priorities to team members
· Oversee master schedule and all departmental micro-schedules
· Partner with the Director (and any duly deputized leadership) to manage to the approvals needed per the schedule
· Ensure that the budget and scheduling are updated as changes are made to the films production flow and/or staffing profile
· Maintain solid understanding how changes may affect the budget, scheduling, staffing, and overtime
· Estimate the number of hours or cost of each sequence and devise cost-cutting options if and as necessary
· Collaborate with CG Supervisor, Assistant Production Manager, Pipeline Supervisor and Department Heads and Head of Production to create and implement plans to develop the necessary production tools
· Manage and ensure that pipeline development and asset development is on track
· Create and implement a complexity review process and strategy to be used in production
· Monitor productivity levels in each production department and review individual artist productivity with appropriate department leadership
· Oversee resource and time management of production crew and artistic talent
· Approve all overtime and meal purchases in advance
· Ensure that the complexity of work is consistent with department budgets and schedules and strategize solutions with leadership
· Strategize with Department Leads and Senior Management on how to resolve any complexity overages
· Using data provided by Assistant Production Manager, look well ahead to ensure that weekly quotas, individual department milestones, and inventory expectations are met
· Strategize with Assistant Production Manager and Senior Management to resolve any production and/or inventory issues
· Act as senior decision maker in the event of obstacles, roadblocks, and conflicts
· Communicate and proactively identify potential production and crew issues to the Head of Production
· Collaborate with Post Production Supervisor to deliver final footage for post
· Supervise and mentor Production Management team members, and create opportunities for promotion and career development
· Oversee performance review process for production management team
· Partner with HR, Staffing and Training to coordinate the technical requirements of recruiting, hiring and training the artistic and production teams
· Partner with HR and Recruitment Manager to ensure show meets recruiting and staffing targets
· Assist with special projects as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE· 10+ years experience in a production management role, preferably in CG feature film
· Completed post-secondary education in production or relevant area of study
· Working knowledge of production techniques and terminology
· Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of management
· Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and multi-task efficiently within a high-pressure environment while meeting strict deadlines
