Creating water for aquariums

Hey!
I was wondering if someone knows how to make water for aquariums or to fill these tubes

When I create a water volume, it's only a transparent water plane basically
It looks like this

What I want to achieve, is that it's actually filled with water.
Now I only get the "under water" effect if I place my camera right under the plane, which is really weird.

the "underwater" effect only works underwater.. Its done using some sort of screenFX normal which displaces the pixels, and a fake camera sway to increas the effect.

To achieve a similar effect in an aquarium tube like that is a little trickier.

You'll need to be using some sort of refraction normal map. You can either apply it using a particle effect (will be easier to animate the water then) or then you can experiment with having a "water" mesh inside the tube with a glass shader material applied and a watery normal map for the refraction.

Oooh, I was afraid it worked in some way like that.
Awesome! I'll try that out :)
Thanks sooo much for the answer!
