Maya FBX Issue

Sorry if there are no apostrophes in my post, that key on my keyboard is broken.

Ive had this issue come up before when I switched between different monitors, but I cant seem to crack it on my home computer.

When I try exporting FBX using Export Selected in Maya, it gets to the point where I can type in the file name, press enter, but the FBX dialog box (with the preferences for Animation, Units, ect) is gone. Nowhere to be seen.

Tried connecting and disconnecting monitors, restarting without any monitors plugged in, unloading and reloading the plugin, getting the latest plugin, seeing if it was just mildly off screen (like at an edge), and reinstalling the plugin and nuking my maya preferences. When I try to open the dialog again to see if it just stopped working, I get "The FBX export dialog is already open".

Anyone got an idea?
Thank you!

Hello friend! I have the solution to your problem.
When you clicked the export button and you have the dialog box open (somewhere off screen) press ALT+SPACE.

This will open up the menu same as if you click on the program icon in the top left corner of the screen. You can't see the menu though but click down once to move the selection to "move" and press on either right or left arrow will move the box to the edge of your screen. You should be able to see it by now (just a little sliver on either the left or right of your screen). You can then move the mouse curser to the top part of the window and click and drag.

Hope this works, that used to drive me crazy when I had teh same problem.

    Thanks for your reply! :)

That trick is awesome, but for some reason it wasn't working for me when I'd try to use it. :/

What did work was doing this:

    - Go to Preferences
    - Under Settings, go to Files/Projects
    - I had my File Dialog set to "OS native". Switch it to "Maya default" and save.
    - Then I went back in and changed it back to "OS native", saved, and that worked.

Weird toggling resolution, but it was the only thing that did anything.

If you ever find yourself in my terrible situation, give that a shot! :)

You can also try hitting (in Windows 7) Shift + WindowsKey + Left/Right Arrow to swap the active window from monitor 1 to 2.
