Hi Folks,
I guess I'm an industry vet as I've been in the games biz for around 20 years. I started out doing pixel art for 8 bit platformers such as Robocod and Rolo to the rescue. My first 3D work was character modelling for a PS1 game called MediEvil after which I specialised as a character/concept artist.
Over the years I've worked for the likes of Sony, Eurocom, Rebellion and Sumo but for the last 3 years I've been freelance, working for games and pre-vis studios and mixing it up with some lecturing.
In my spare time I'm working on a short live action/CG film called Iron Star,I'm hoping to have the film finished in the first half of next year. I've included a few renders of the star of the show below.
More work can be found at my website: http://leavon.co.uk
Thanks for having a look.
Cheers,
Leavon.
your POTC work is awesome!I dig the fantasy characters too. I'm not the biggest fan of Wix as a hosting platform as noscript chews it to pieces but you've done a nice job with it. The Ironstar work is intriguing, but I'm not sure the snowy scene is the most impressive of the lot. Overall, great body of work you have there!
Thanks Dan! POTC seems like so long ago it was the first PS3/360 game I worked on and the learning curve was steep but the chars came out pretty well, can't say the same for the game....
I've got a few other pics of IS so I might sub the snowey pic.
I agree the POTC work is by far your strongest with these pieces. I actually like everything from the females head and down. Honestly I'm not that crazy about the Rift characters or the big mech. The silhouette of the mech and its design is probably the two things that are off putting to me and with the Rift characters, it could very well be the lighting and rendering you did with them.
I have no doubt you are extremely talented being so experienced and all but if your looking to impress people the most with your work I would at the very least switch up the order of these and put the POTC pieces first. Nice work you have there!
The 8/ 16-bit platformers like Robocod and Rolo To The Rescue are what got me into wanting to do game-art int eh first place so it's awesome to see your current stuff here

Thanks Sam, nice to know they are remembered . Great char work by the way, I love the Pirate stuff.
Your Stuff looks amazing . My goal is to become a 3D character and creature artist do you have any advice?.
Ummm, stay at school and don't do drugs? Seriously, just do it, the more you do it the better you'll get. Try and soak up as much art as you can, traditional, comics, fantasy, whatever it all helps to build a visual memory and style.
Rad stuff bro, all around is awesome. Is first mech realtime ? if it is, it's damn impressive
Thanks fella, it's not a game asset, but it's rigged, all the chains and tracks move etc. He's built for a short live action film I'm making with a few other arists,(Cakeypigdog above being one of them).
Awesome stuff. Love the potc characters and the tractor...thing
The peeling paint on the tractor looks epic, would you mind sharing your workflow for that?
Thankyou, the paint is just a diffuse, bump and a specular map on a Blinn shader. Just made sure that the rust was bumpy and that it was knocked back a bit in the spec, it came out pretty well.
