Hi I have been trying to learn Mudbox for the last month but have had very little success as I seem to be unable to correctly utilise the extracted maps in Maya, in particular the Displacement map. I have tried many times but have yet to get any result that resembles the original high-res model that I created in Mudbox. I am not sure where I am going wrong with my models and am hoping someone on the forums could help me. I understand alot of problems can occur during the process so I am unsure. I have some sample images supplied below of the results I am getting:

Mudbox high res:

Lowpoly with displace

Lowpoly smoothed with displace

Low Poly with Displace (imported obj with all options turned off)

My work method is:
-Build model in Maya and export to Roadkill to Unwrap
-Import to Maya, adjust UVs and export back to obj
-Import into Mudbox-sculpt and re export low-poly mesh
-Extract maps and use new low-poly mesh as target model
-Import Obj back to Maya and apply 32bit exr displacement map.

I am using Maya+Mudbox 2012. I have tried using the SubdivisionApprox editor for MentalRay but that just seemed to smooth over everything leaving no detail. I have checked my UVs and do not believe there are any overlapping.
Thank you for your attention. I would really appreciate any advice at this point as it has a complete block on my learning process
