cool man, but the render is blinding white. Try to use a shellac material, (get some spec in there) color break up, and try to get a darker gradient in there so its not fighting the scroll... if your going to keep it at that bright white.
Redid the centerpiece of the scroll, had wrong sub-d there and the alpha painting just messed it all up like that High poly in zbrush and gonna finish baking this weekend!
Done with the low poly, it's at ~10k tris now. This scroll would be considered a higher importance prop..I want this to be somewhat next-gen looking, so I don't want to lose much of the detail. Tho I do feel like I'm pushing the polycount a bit still...
very cool. I actually got to meet the guy that did the model for the elder scroll in skyrim (Dane oles I think), it might be too late now at this point, but I think the original scroll was a bit longer in that center area. Beyond that though, very nice work cant wait to see it finished
Checking out dDo. Really awesome tool! But as this is a practise piece I don't think I'll be using this for my final texture, just messing around a bit, and finally getting some color on my model..:) I might use dDo for boosting my AO a bit and getting a nice specular. Gonna try to use dDo with the 'color diffuse' function tomorrow, see what that gives me. Either way I'm looking forward to the weekend and getting a real start on a new texture. Here is the dDo generated one tho;
Thanks m8 A friend of mine (Roel Bartstra) helped me out building a shader for this one; This is what he got out 2day. I'm currently still working on a environment to show this one off

Another hour in..HP #2
Still need to add the 'star-shaped' decorations.
edit ; uploaded the wrong link doh'
ANd one more for the heck of it
Any opinions on this?
In any case, it's better to have more poly's than another texture map (say, Height map for tessellation, in this case).
Lowpoly:
I kinda like the result of the bakes (AO rendered at 4k, NM at 2k)
Still getting some bake errors, setting up a better cage in Xnormal tomorrow and starting on the diffuse..Any feedback then will be veeery welcome

Update incoming
But I think this is a nice base to start working from. Thanks dDo
Also need to build a nice material for the paper, if anyone has any advice / material refs for it please do let me know~
Thinking of putting this prop on a stone table, add a quill/ink etc. But first to finish this one Any feedback is greatly appreciated
