I am working on recreating a Civil War Fort Scene similar to that of Fort Sumter from the American Civil War. I am getting close to a point where I am satisfied with some of the results I am getting but still want to do a lot more tweaking and push a lot more details. One big thing is I want to figure out a way to get the brick to really push their detail among other things like getting a better lighting scheme. All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Wow this is awesome! I think it would be awesome to see a night battle scene kinda thing. You could have moonlight shining in and fire's going on outside from the battle. You could also light some of the inside with some flickering lanterns. Just a suggestion and I think it could make this scenes lighting awesome!
woah! nice!
and opposite to your own view of the piece, i like the bricks and the lighting very much! but please - go ahead and improve it even further!
subscribed for sure!
Looks great! I think some more ambient light to lighten up the shadows would be help a little, because like others have said, it looks dark. If you're still trying to get some more depth in the wall/floor, you could try a little bit of tessellation? It usually works pretty well with stuff like that.
I am calling this done for now, but still always open to feedback!
UPK file today for free download if anyone wants to check out this scene that was constructed for my graduate thesis at SCAD. I will post the link later this evening.
sweet. ill be really interested to take a look at the upk file.
i gotta say i really liked the way the scene was lit before. while currently it makes more sense because global illumination would keep that pretty well lit, the harsh contrast of light/dark areas just made everything pop so much. i also really liked the bricks before, now it seems like they've all been entirely blended away. id have figured you couldve pretty much called this done after the first few posts
I agree after looking at the old. I went back and darkened it up a little bit. I think the biggest thing I was trying to avoid is getting lost in the sea of dark scenes that you have to lighten your monitor to even see certain parts of the scene. I toned back a couple fill lights to help with what you both said. Thanks for the feedback!
