Working In Amsterdam

Hi everyone, I have just been offered a job in Amsterdam as a junior character artist, and I am wondering if 32,000 euros a year,is a good wage for a University graduate? Be great if people could give me some feedback about this, its really important, thanks alot

The money sounds OK. Should leave you with about 1600-1700 per month after tax (tax is pretty high 33-42% on that part of the scale). I think you should be able to live off that.

Hells yeah, Amsterdam rocks! Not even talking about the lenient laws about certain things, it's just a beautiful place to be. I'd go for it.

One thing to concider is that living expences can be quite high, and i thought that transportation (trams cards) could be quite expencive compared to Sweden at least.1700 per month sounds pretty ok though.

I'm guessing Guerrilla Games, which is a great place for your first job I recon. Go for it. Pay seems pretty decent for a junior position.

You can ride a bicycle easily in Amsterdam, everybody does it. It's not like UK cities where you can get run over any second.

I acctully bought bikes when i lived there and i couldnt agree moore, bikes ftw!

I actually got run over in amsterdam.. nothing serious but hurt like hell the following day.. I was drunk when it happened...

Congrats on your offer, and 32k is good money. I have to give a heads up tho'. We recently elected a new goverment, which has introduced heavy taxes. Add on top of that the previous goverments taxes that will become effective next year a good chunk of that salary will pretty much go up in smoke.

Not to say you will be poor or anything, but have a good look at taxes/cost of living.

I was in Amsterdam last week, I don't know anything about the tax laws or wage standards, but I can tell you that it's an incredibly beautiful and welcoming city! Good luck

and the money is more then decent for an entry level position.

Beware of the rent i mean its A'dam so its not cheap.
Anyway if it is at Guerrilla Games,( almost sure Vanguard is not hiring as far as i know) this would be a super opportunity
I'll bet lots of people wanna work there for less just for the experience.

Gotta stay outta those bike lanes... almost got nailed a couple of time just by stepping foot in there for a split second.


@ OP - Overall, I think you should take the opportunity. Sounds like a good deal, especially for a Junior position. Might be an awesome experience!
