So myself and my good friend Oroboros are teaming up to work on the Lycanthrope. This is Oroboros' first comps after our brainstorming session. More to come soon!
some cool concepts, totally changes the look of the character. You might want to think about how much you want to do that... the character should still be recognisable as the character otherwise in game people might get confused based on the alt character kit.
edit: Just noticed that "D" head, shoulders and arms would be awesome for Chen.
B and C are definately the most lycanish. I think the thing that needs to change is how the helmets cover up his face. Also, perhaps some more red would help as well.
Our concept for this set is that the Lycanthrope is pretty regal looking, so in this scenario he goes out on a quest of discovery starting with his royal garb but as he goes it gets more beat up and tattered and he adds pieces as he goes. Colors are definitely going to be something we constantly tweak. Oroboros is working on a new concept right now that takes our favorite elements from each of his comps.
A is too tattered for my taste and E reminds me of Skeleton King too much. I think B outfit is the best choice, just needs some asymmetry and changing the head piece to something like C.
Hey guys, I'm VonKoz's tag team concept partner. Thank you guys so much for the feedback so far. As Eric mentioned, we tried to look at the lore and create a very different look based off of his backstory...A more disheveled look following his entire family being killed in the 'Fall Of Ambry' part of his lore.
"Lord Ambry laughed from his chains even as the King ran him through with a sword. Now the heir to the lost house of Ambry, Banehallow wanders the trail as the Lycan, part warrior, part wolf, in search of justice for all that he lost."
Some new comps coming soon, following a less regal look (More in the direction of A&E with some other revisions sprinkled in)
So sexy! I'd say overall I like the first one better, but the front of the headpiece looks a bit too much like a fox instead of a wolf to me. The shape language kinda conflicts with the rest of the piece, it looks sleek, sly and manufactured while the rest of the design looks more tattered and like he gathered what he could and fashioned armor out of it. I'd love to see the headpiece C from your earlier draft on the latest one. Great work, keep it up!
Thanks Spudnik, and Bobo! Points taken. As for concept A, I think we strayed away from the more bone theme because lot of the other Lycan entries are currently approaching it that way (The disadvantage of being a little late to the game).
Totally can see what you're talking about Spudnik, did a quick pass on a variant helm.
I'm breaking personal records for creating orthos here and losing sleep this week, but we are committed to making this happen. VonKoz, take it from here! *tag*
No sleep no problem indeed!
The set looks fantastic and definitely something I would use when playing Lycanthrope. The amount of detail you guys are putting in, its going to be incredible to see finished
Otherwise they are indeed some awesome conceptuals but time is running low, hope to see this pulled off. Also over time you should try to make number 1.
SO we're steaming ahead! I got the helmet down to 600 tris and I still need to make the 300 lod, I'm working on the shoulders right now and they definitely need to be reduced.
Hey! Awesome! I didn't know you were doing this Koz Looking forward to seeing what you do! Just as a heads up in case you planned on using it- this guy doesn't use alphas :P
The way almost everyone is doing is starting up the game and going to the "Customize/Workshop/Publish new item" section. There you can upload into the game all the files and see it in the viewer. At the end you just hit "Cancel submission".
Some bugs I found.
If you refresh textures or models it wont load the new ones. You have to reset the game.
It doesn't remember the paths in your hard drive, you have to direct it every time you start the game.

I have to say I have a soft spot for Concept A in your first post though.

Don't forget to do a rough test in-game with the mesh to see if it folds correctly before UVs and textures.

So I have everything unwraped and both Lod's at the proper tri counts! Onto the sculpting phase!
