What I'm trying to do is get 3DS Max to import an obj file that contains just points. Whenever I select the file I get "Nothing to import".
I opened the file in notepad and it looks fine to me for what I have been able to figure out about obj structure.
This is part of the obj, the rest of it is the same structure for about fifty more points.

I thought at first it may be a problem with the obj so I made some points in Max and exported them as an obj for comparison. Unfortunately this resulted with "Nothing to export" error.
Exporting as a fbx works great, no problems there or re-importing it.
I have tried converting the obj to a fbx with the Autodesk FBX Converter. Importing the converted file only gives me a root node (because of an option in the converter) but still no points.
So, any ideas on how to get points from an obj in to Max?
