Hey, it will be my second completed character in 3d :) Maybe i don't have any chance (some really great entries here!) but i'm working on this zombie to improve my skills. Sorry for my english btw.

Lighthouse keeper - the forgotten profession. Today's technology makes the old lighthouses unnecessary. But some keepers will never abandon their duty...
No references used, only my brain. Brain. Brainnnn...

If someone's want to feel the atmosphere, i've googled some interesting stuff:

I've been without internet connection for a few days, but i shot some screens for WIP. Now i'm gonna update frequently:

Then i decided to make something less proportional:

Some eq and harpoon arrows... Well, not every sailor likes the dead man standing at the top of lighthouse and staring at the sea.

Added a jar with a glowworm - well, useful when the oil lamp runs out of... Oil. Hm. Also, unwrapped and started painting & adding details:

Even when not wasting UV space, the 2k res is not enough for details like that :( Maybe too much equipment to map. I wanted to make the "Dullahan Grove" text here, but it's quite difficult to see it . And some sea barnacle-thingy on his hat. Bonus, wtf face (no, it's not gonna be in final model :D)

Painting and detailing progress - rendered in Toolbag with alpha map for tests. Still much to do:

Maybe it's a quite unusual workflow (my PC isn't strong enough to make detailed high-poly sculpt first). Any crits are welcome, i'm still a beginner :)

One does not simply make something good without refs...

You're right, now i'm trying to add some face wrinkles and i see how it's hard without reference - or knowledge :) Adding details in per pixel painting (3dCoat) isn't comfortable too.

Actually i've checked some lighthouse keeper's pictures and their equipment before starting - but maybe it's good to always have some references around when creating.

    Started adding details & normals:

The coat fabric and other things still looks flat, but i'm gonna make normal map for it at the end (probably from diffuse)

Painting and detailing progress. Normal map for clothing and specular map not done yet (this is crappy specular from diffuse) I'm thinking about this seaweed thingy - keep it or not. I will improve it to look more natural.

He's quite sad when staring at the sea - maybe i will put him on the lighthouse tower for the final render :)

Maybe studying some anatomy would do you good for your next character, always something I for one mess up on, and it's pretty important. Also, a more relaxed pose will always do alot, even in t-pose, at least in my opinion.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, i'm lacking skills for anatomy and many other things (that's my second finished character) but the anatomy here was intentionally deformed :) I was planning to pose it, but i had no time.
