I liked the fact that Doom Bringer's wings are crippled, so my idea is that he's reconstructed them over the years. The armor set will maintain the Doom Bringer color scheme but introduce various steampunk-like mechanical parts to reinforce his wings.

Should be interesting to see where the steam punk aspect goes.
Sub d's mostly done, just figuring out what to do with his back/harness for the wings. I'll be pushing the tri count for lod1 if I add much more. Zbrushing tomorrow night for some inner details, especially on the shoulders which are really bland
Will be interesting to see if I can get this done
Now to figure out how the eff I'm going to finish these wings without exceeding the 550 tri limit :poly118:
Nice work.
That... was painful... and took way too long to figure out. Now I just need to make a high poly within those limits and onto baking!

I didn't get it completed to the level of finish or presentation-quality I'd hoped for, but that's what I get for procrastinating. Also I doubt the wings will get accepted. The in-game 256 texture is pretty pixely.
Also I learned that you do NOT want to bake all your parts together in one large psd and then transfer maps later. Makes it absolute HELL if you need to do lots of revisions.
most original i've seen for the doom bringer
That's too bad to hear about the wings in-game texture resolution. Do each of the wing metal pieces have unique texture space? It's a little late now, but you could probably get away with the bottom three wing metal pieces all pulling from the same texture, which could save a little texture space. Good luck with the contest.
Thanks! Yeah I agree, maybe I'll do that if they reject it for that reason. Not sure why I didn't go that route in the first place, oh wells.
