Just thought I would make notice of this awesome opportunity.

This year, we’re calling on college and university students to submit an original environment piece and/or original character piece that would be a great fit for World of Warcraft."

Being a student pays off for once.

A three-month mentorship by a member of the World of Warcraft art team, in the form of email or phone critique of portfolio work. (Contact frequency will be roughly every two weeks.)

It's cute, but it's not much of a prize. That's basically six critiques, and you can get pretty good critique over your work, for free, right here

And more importantly, those who need the critique the most, are probably the ones that won't win.

Seriously. Also the fact that you get some one on one with someone that works there is huge. That's a serious opportunity to get a foot int he door.

Just for info's all the artists that won last year ended up with internships for the summer. Which is pretty awesome.

Where do you get this information ? Maybe im just blind

if you click submit and the submit again you will get to a page were you have to enter some personal information. The only 2 countries you can choose from there is Canada and US

Hey guys in the contest page it says that for the character you have a budget of 6000 polygons. should i assume that as 6000 triangles?

hello everyone! about the character contest, it says that i have to use 1 1024x1024 texture but im making a weapon for the character should i included on the same texture? or should i just do 2 512????

I would put the weapon on the 1024 sheet. Also it would be 4 512x512 not 2.

Judging by how many "Congratulations *X Polycount member* just got a job at Blizzard" messages we get here, you'd probably get most of the same people looking at your work if you were to post your work in Pimping and Previews.

Being able to add "I'm a student who won a Blizzard art competition" to your resume is the real prize here.
