I'm looking about for a new mouse. It's for work use only (3d modelling, web browsing etc), so game features aren't important.
My priorities are:
- Comfort: I'd say I use a claw grip, and I'm use to a quite small mouse. So, one that isn't too big or bulky.
- A nice scroll wheel: One that is fast and smooth and doesn't require too much force. And one that isn't noisy. (Good for zooming in 3ds Max and webpage scrolling)
- Would probably prefer a corded mouse, but am open to suggestions.
- I use hotkeys on my keyboard, so extra mouse keys aren't a priority. They might be useful though.
I don't mind if it has other bells and whistles, as long as those basics are there.
I've been researching, and have a couple in mind. But I've been hearing mixed opinions on the scroll wheel.
Thanks

And altough the mx518 is a great mouse, I personally found it to be to big.
Currently I use a razer abyssus, and imo it does fit what you are looking for.
It's fairly small, and ideal for a claw grip, it doesn't have 1million features you never use, just a good basic mouse (mine has lasted for I think about 1,5 years now).
Scrollwheel is barely audible.
Just be aware that it doesn't have a single added button at all, it has the "press scrollwheel", but that's it.
So if you have a way to test it out, definatly worth checking out imo.
Been using it for 7+ years.
Unlike many other mice I can still work with it, even after 3 years without getting cramps. (2nd place goes to my age old white MS Intelli-mouse - the one before they made 'em even bigger. Probably hard to find now, but should be really cheap. like 15 bucks?)
I made mine really heavy on a steelseries mouse pad and it glides.
I should have mentioned, that I'll be using it on an mdf board surface. I can never get on with mouse mats. I take it there won't be a problem with laser or optical, but just in case anyone's had any problems with these mice.
@EQ, The cheapest that I've found the MX518 for here is £60 ($95).
So, it looks like it's either the Abyssus or the G400. I was also looking at the G500 because of the switching wheel.
Is the G400 wheel quiet, and does it feel fast scrolling webpages?
