So far this semester we have made a few low-poly game assets. This is the first larger, higher-poly model I've attempted. Obviously the thickness needs to be adjusted; it is a WIP. I would certainly appreciate any feedback you have! -cheers!
Yes I absolutely intend to show all the progress on this model through low poly and texturing etc. Here are a few shots of the suggested changes, including thickness and balance.
Cool start, you got a lot of the curves in! Some suggestions:
These bits seem waaaay too skinny, especially compared to the reference... They're not going to show up well when you start making your normal maps, I'd recommend beefing them up.
Also, you should change your render background color to be something other than black, because the parts in shadow are disappearing into the background.
All my suggestions are small, but they'll make the roulette table more realistic. I've been to casinos and played at roulette tables. Obviously according to your reference this is an old style table, but they still carry their traits from old to modern style. The roulette wheel is out of proportions. The diameter is to small, and it's not deep enough. The table seems small as well, both length and width-wise. You have the layout in the middle, and usually 6 inchs of table space from the edge of the table to the board layout, for room for your hands, arm chips and drinks.
Once you start texturing it, I'm sure you'll see what I mean in terms of the table length/width.
Though I cant wait to see what this will look like when completed.

Yeah, I've actually never seen one in person; just going off of that reference you saw. Thanks for the tips! =D
Hello All and thanks for all the feedback! I have implemented the most recent changes (making the table top wider, as well as beefing up the details on the support/horizontal leg. I also deleted the slight 'lip' that was initally around the top of the table; it was suggested that it was such a small detail that it wasn't worth the geometry unless I either beefed it up significently, or deleted it. Looking back at the reference I decided to go with just flattening the top of the table completely. Let me know any further insights and thanks again!!
Hello again! I've created a low poly and run it through UDK with my normal maps, spec etc. I'm actually quite suprised the low poly with maps turned out looking SO close to the high in terms of pure silouette. (This is my first attempt).
Thanks all for looking and commenting!
