"killer7-style" - how?

Hello. I wanna make a game in a style, similar to killer7 so i decided that UDK is good for it.

So here goes question "how exactly"..

Firstly, about "cell shading"

i found this thread on epic

When i tried it i got

It had some weird dynamic gradient system that sometimes overlayed some half-transparent textures
