Ooh, nice potential here. I like the feeling of these, neat ideas.
You've picked up some neat tricks. There's room for improvement all around, hard to give specific crits. Not sure how far along these are meant to be but I think each of them feels a few steps away from looking "finished". Composition on them seems a little awkward as well. (I use that term knowing nothing about it, but it just feels like they all could've been laid out more effectively to be more comfortable to look at.)

Very valid points, thanks I'm very guilty of rushing into a piece without planning it out properly...the top two took a few hours whilst the bottom one was something very quick so I could get a feel of some nice brushes I found (here if anyone's interested).
Haven't updated this in a while, I really need to force myself to practice more but motivation is hard to come by at the moment. Some more older stuff, these are embarrassing to look at now:
Something a little different, I was fortunate to attend a workshop hosted by Leavon Archer (http://www.leavon.co.uk/) and picked up a load of new techniques for hard surface in zBrush as it's an area I haven't touched on yet.
Wanted to make an 'army robot' with a bit of personality so I wanted him to look a little awkward. This is far from finished and I might develop it into a portfolio piece at a later date. I've named him "Al"
Starting to refine some earlier ideas for my final year project at university - I have to paint 6 environment pieces based on the world of Wild Skies (see http://www.projectholodeck.com/wildskies)
I'd love some feedback on what I have so far as it's important I get these right Colours and composition mainly
Thank you! Everyone seems to like that one, it's funny because it's my least favourite of all my recent paints, and it took me about 10-15 minutes :poly124:
you can see the improvement of your art trough, from first to the last.
I like that one with the snow and that one with spaceships on sunset. Not only you had choose nice colors, the composition is well done, it tells a story, you have a melancholic feeling.

Thank you! Trying to inject more of a story into my work, I do think I'm better than I was at the start of the year but I got a long way to go yet. Here's something really quick I was doing yesterday, I think I could push it a bit further but I don't really have the inclination to do so...
Also I really need to stop with the orange lighting/sunset paintings. Something different next time, promise!
Hey again, returning to an old theme with this one, didn't spend anywhere near as long on it though, gonna start on some figure drawing stuff soon methinks
And here's something even quicker, trying to work in monotone:
Decided to push myself today and do a portrait, I'm not confident at all when painting faces and doing longer pieces, so this was a challenge. It's a painting of Alice Morgan (played by Ruth Wilson) from BBC's Luther. One of my favourite TV shows, and one of my favourite characters, highly recommended.
Paused an episode halfway through and screen-shotted Alice for reference. Copying from a photo isn't too bad, I just gotta learn how to paint people from imagination, need to go back to the fundamentals I think, but overall happy with how this came out
Had a few days without non-work painting so here's something new, would like to get this more detailed at some point. As always, critique is more than welcome!
A little late in the game, but I just wanted to say that I really like the concept a few posts back. The one that has a slight asian feel, early morning, red banners... The angel and composition of that one just struck me as cool.

Hey thanks It's funny because that's probably my least favourite :P This is why I love other people's feedback, everyone always sees my stuff different to how I do.
Not done anything I'm allowed to show recently, but here's a re-touch of an older piece, I've worked over the general values and colour as it really needed sorting out:
I like that tall building, I kinda have hard time with extreme perspective like that, but you did it really neat. Anyway I have a critique, the bottom of the concept is to bright, you have multiple bright areas on the picture, the viewer don't know where to look first. I suggest to make a single focal point and build the other light areas rather less saturated, bit darker. That is my opinion, so it's up to you. Have fun ^^

Thanks for the critique! Always looking to improve so it really helps. Other people have said the exact same thing so it's definitely something I'm gonna work on

Something fairly recent:
and a first try at 'space art' over summer
p.s, anyone know how to change the size of images on here using the handles? It just resets the size when I post.
Concept:
3D:
So you have done it in blender or just your own work?

If you mean the 3D Stuff, it's all 3DS/ZBrush.

Here's some more I did today:
A lot has happened since my last post but I'm still churning out environment speedpaintings, they're so much fun! Here are some recent ones:
Really like the colors in this one

Did a livestream tonight (http://www.twitch.tv/mistermojo28 if anyone's interested, I usually post when I'm streaming on my https://www.facebook.com/jhillcreatives page) and came up with this, probably gonna keep detailing:
