The one on the bottom right looks badass! As does the top right one.
The one you have on the character right now is some great out of the box thinking, but I find it makes him look a bit too fat and stubby because with the bigger head proportions, everything else is thrown off, proportions wise.
Here's where I'm currently at with this guy, all still WIP.
I'm hot happy with the surface treatment of the horns, I will be messing with those a bit more.

Looks great though you should put some placeholder temporary geo at those locations around his head and back as I think you'll have all types of clipping hell to deal with, don't get me wrong I love this but I've been running into issues and I thought I made a safe design but some animations don't play well with my shoulder pieces and I've planned to keep them from clipping but they still clip, I am understanding more why they designed the original pieces like they did, Just a heads up.

Almost done with the textures, I still have to do a clean up pass on it all and make all the weird DOTA 2 masks. The textures are not game resolution... ...yet.

Ok, so, I'm going to try and make some more items with the 2 week extension we have.
Here is what I have for a sword so far (Low poly with normals and AO).
Very nice looking sword and I see a sneak peak at them runes also the face it looking like it's been getting love as well as the horns, I am liking what I can see from the back of them.
Crisp textures man, only thing that I feel might not read well are those runes on the shoulders I can barely see them now at such a close up shot, might just be me and they will look great, keep on trucking this is high quality.
What are you using to preview this stuff? if you don't mind me asking.
hey, $!nz, thanks. I dont mind you asking what shader i am using at all, I am using the Xoliul 2 shader.
And to answer to your previous comment about clipping, I have been testing him in game (not fully skinned), and he doesn't seem to clip too much, I moved his horns around a bit to minimize what clipping I saw. I figure some clipping is unavoidable so I'm not going to stress to mush over it. hopefully once its skinned there will be even less clipping.

Yeah I like this one a lot too. Hey what settings did you use on the xoulil shader? I like how yours looks and would like to try the same settings on mine.
oh, Mstankow, I dont remember my settings I think i had half lambert turned on, reflections on, I also extracted a few channels from the DOTA2 masks and thew them in the right spots, spec, gloss, reflection.
But I'm not using the Xoliul 2 shader anymore. I am using that DOTA2 shader for 3ds max now.

great job jeremy! i'm glad you had the time to do the weapon too, it really completes the set. i like how it has curved shapes that are similar to your armor set.
