Okay, so I'm trying to put together a little outside winter piece to put one of my characters in. I worked on a cabin and decided to see how it would look in a basic UDK map.
I simply opened the default night scene and put my cabin with the textures in. Then I generated lught maps for my cabin meshes within. After that, I created a terrain and did a quick sculpt of the snow to give it some noise.
Here's what it looks like pre-building:
Aaaaaand after building all (with medium lighting)
So... yeah. First of all, I MAY have an idea of what's going on with the cabin. Maybe I should just go back and manually work on a second UV channel for the light maps. Could that be it?
Secondly, what happened with the snow? Why is there only some spots of shadows instead of a more smooth gradient?
The only light in the scene is the default light from the Night scene.

But yeah, it confirms my worry. I think I'll have to manually set a second uv channel for all my meshes, as UDK's automatic process might not be good enough for this.
Re-doing sone UVs for the light maps shouldn't take too long either, thanks!
Will post some progress in P&P when I get further into this!
