Mixamo Zombie Contest - Diner Grill Cook

Another exciting Mixamo Contest!
With so much zombie stuff in the media these days its been a struggle to find an original take on genre. My creative process for this project has been two-fold: Occupation and cause of untimely death.

What I came up with was a big fat 'fast food', diner grill/griddle cook, with a retro 50's feel. Below are some references I picked off the webs to get the character and costuming down. I'd appreciate any comments, critiques or suggestions......

Here is my first concept drawing for the Zombie Grill Cook. (sorry for the lo quality cell phone pic).

Here is the un-zombie-fied (living?!?) pass for the base mesh. I need to get the costume elements blocked out, then start the fun part of ripping up his body and adding wounds/decay.

Here's a second pass on the base mesh with distorted facial features; basically removing the cartilage of the nose.

Sweet! I love the walk... I love witnessing a concept turning into a sketch... and being given life (or the illusion of life in this context ) Looking forward to more updates.

A 'mannequin' in a t-pose is hard to relate to. I find putting a model in motion (or posing) helps me define the character. I love the 'Geppetto' feeling too! Mixamo auto-rigging and animation have become a key part of my workflow.

i like the flow of movement in your character,try fixing the jaw and the way the teeth is shown coming out the mouth.I keep an eye out for your progress.Looking good.

Face detail close-up. The idea is to burn and char (from the griddle) 1 side of the face eventually. I wanted to get a good symmetrical sculpt done first.
