Original Post:

Hey hey, i'll be giving this a shot. I'll be working with Blender. I've only made a handful of models with it before, but I figured this would be a good oppurtunity to play around with it some more.

So I've decided to attempt to create an item set for Skeleton King. I've been concepting and started out with a page of concepts, where I just went nuts and saw what tickled my fancy.

Then I took the ideas I liked the most, and tried to decide on a design. This is what i've got so far. Still might tweak it a bit, for example with the hoodie, as I am not exactly sure how good I can make it look. But it's a start!

Personally I like D a lot, the fur collar makes him look imposing, which is a good thing.

I like design F above the rest. The shoulder piece looks interesting with the downard facing spikes but I'm wondering if those would clip (and hurt) him when his arm moves up. I also like the spikes from shoulders E; perhaps add those spikes to shoulder F. I also like the idea of a black crown from design F. Having the cloak right-heavy and the shoulder left-heavy helps balance the character out, so nice job with that idea. Not a fan of the covered mouth and shawl from A.

    Looking good so far.

D gets my vote. Gives him a lot of cloth without covering him up too much.

Here's an update. I've modelled the belt that'll be hanging around his chest, A thicker cape, and a hood with four horns sticking out of it. The shoulderpiece and gauntlet are from the original set.

I am honestly starting to like the Hood idea less and less. This is the king of bones, he would need to veil to hide his identity or protect him from enviromental hazards. He wears his crown with pride, and gladly faces any enemy!

I'll see if I cant find a better design for a headpiece (I'm actually quite fond of the original one, since it feels like it's part of his iconic headshape.) Otherwise I might do a armpiece of weapon for him, and leave the head as is.

An update. Now with custom shoulderpiece, and a not-quite-as-wide hood with simpler horns. Havent had the chance to work much on this the last week, but should be able to do more soon. Also removed the arm part of the model since it wasnt part of the base.

Ah that's a pity I really liked the full hood idea. Anyway it's still looking great keep up the good work. Maybe do a "game perspective" shot so that you can see if all your shapes will work in the silhouette.

Alright, finally got time to post another update.

Decided to sit down and finish at least one of these items for the set. It took a lot of tweaking to get the texture of the shoulderpiece to match that of the rest of the Armor.

And today I decided to finish up the hood. I was a bit worried about rigging this one to the bone, as the shoulder piece had all vertexes bound to the same bone, while the hood would have to be bound to both the head and neck. But it proved to work fairly well at first attempt!

There's a few things I might tweak. The grey color on the horns don't seem dark enough, the texture of the hood could use some more folds.

I might also copy the mesh from his face, and give them a gradient transparent black texture that'll be placed slighty in front of his face, to simulate the very dramatic shadow I had in my concept art.

Finished this up today. The reply is so late because of Procastinating and a terrible cold I managed to catch. But I managed to finish this!

Here's how the Cape turned out:

And here's an image of Skeleton King with the full set on him:

I had some trouble using the Mask1 and Mask2 textures, where using the same values from the original masks for Skeleton King would provide different results, maybe my software is very outdated or i've made some other mistake, but im pleased with the results.

And Submitted! I did some last minute changes to the cloak, addes some more contrast on it.

And here are the links to the whole set, along with its seperate pieces.

I had a lot of fun working on this, and regardless of the outcome, I did have to learn a lot during this process. (Normal Maps, Rigging, etc) So it's been interesting. :)
