[DOTA2] - Phantom Lancer - Moby Dick

Hey all,

Just thought I would reserve my spot. And no this is not going to have dicks in it!!! I was going to recreate the Phantom Lancer using the story of Moby Dick who hunted/caught a whale.

Looking at the Phantom Lancer's back story they were the fishing sort of people and just were fairly laid back. So i am going to try and get some of that into the piece.

My initial thoughts/ideas are for the weapon to be a sort of harpoon lance, it obviously cant be fired but he will just attack with it. Maybe a fish skull for the shoulder. The belt will have fishing accessories on it. And the glove i am not too sure of yet, but as we only need three i will start these bits and see how time goes!!!

Let me know your initial thoughts i will post some very rough sketches this evening.

A question i have is how much of the model can we change? Example could i give him a coat? Will post this in the Q and A as well.

Yeah you probably could give him a coat or something similar. Just be careful not to change his silhouette too much and make sure you use it where it makes sense (i.e. the coat would replace the shoulders, not the bracers)

Cheers Spudnik, yeah well i was thinking of having the fish bone skull for shoulder but may change that to a ripped coat just on the shoulder with some gold armour for protection. But will see...

You can use both the fishbone and the cloak for your shoulder item. It just cuts into the amount of polys you have available :S

Well i started modelling my harpoon lance in 3ds max and went away for awhile and i am not too sure if my idea is really that bold. The weapon looks a lot like his normal weapon all i have done is changed the shape a bit and added some rope to it. As you can see in the image below.



So i then went back to the drawing board on good old pen and paper and came up with some other designs my fave was this one below. So my question is did you like the moby dick idea or should i just go with this new sort of design?
