[Dota 2] - Sand King - "The Banished King"

Throwing out my initial sketches for some Sand King items.



I am no concept artist so it's quite rough with some quite radical changes to his head. Now I've done one full sketch it's time to do another with some other ideas so watch this space.

Possible tail designs:

While different is great and the first one looks awesome, I feel the second head concept is the better one. It's still possible to make out and identify Sand King. As an added plus, the second concept introduces another color in his palette and looks really good. The red highlights and face cloth are the way to go I think.

Maybe try and make the spikes on the bottom of the claws darker to make the top of the claws stand out?

I do really like the idea of tattered clothe over his exoskeleton, but not over the face. Im voting a version of the first concept but without covering up the face. The second concept looks too similar to Bounty Hunter.

For the tail I'm liking the shape of the shorter, more curved spikes. What if you use that shape with the golden color from the other tail versions?

The one you like is the default tail.

The scorpion tail made me wince when it flashed up. I'd say that's a good sign.

I think Rik means the dark pincer tail. That one happens to be the one I like most.

Hey man! Glad to see you enter this! I like the 2nd gif but you have to push it more. But like you said you're not a concept artist, so maybe blocking out ideas in a sculpting tool might be perfect for you? I'll follow this!

Just a minor suggestion for how you're formatting this thread. Images are automatically scaled down the fit the forum. It may be better to show all of the designs side-by-side, instead of in an animated reel. Would make for easier comparison. Looking good, though.
