Hi to all, here is my thread devoted to Broodmother, and my set Caring Mama . There will be 3 items: tummy with spider eggs inside, a slightly spiked legs and little adornment at the head.
Here is some pictures
I like the spiked legs a lot but I think your texturing is pushing your interesting design back towards looking like the original
She's got red tips, red at the joints and the general blue gradient along the length of the leg, all the same as you have.
I'd like to see you try out some changes in the colour palette.
I think you should make the back look like it's almost bursting with eggs. Increase the number of eggs and push them out a little bit.
This.
Also the antennae/feelers look a little off somehow, like they're either too short or simply don't belong on a spider. Not sure how I'd change them but I'd look at pictures of real life spiders to see if any have anything like that for inspiration.
Other than that the set is coming along nicely, great job.
Just wondering if you do make it festering and bursting with eggs how much of that could be done with the normal map instead of geometry. Might end up winning the poly battle that way?

Because spiders don't have feelers on their heads tbh. You're making it into an insect.
yes - antennae should go for sure.
Also i'm a defenitely +1 on more eggs - push that silhouette with 'em. push it lots.
You might even consider (if it can be managed) putting some of the young on there - though it might look a little awkward without them animating. something to think about though. Wolf spiders do it.

Side note: i'm an arachnaphobe and just that google search will probably have me slapping at imaginary spiders that may or may not be crawling all over me for the rest of the day. Better 'preciate it!

Yeah I was fairly certain there aren't any species of spiders that have antennae but I'm sure there's a spider out there with some kind of head-something on it.
Thx for feedbacks guys, i will remake head and improve back, also i think that misc slot can be used for some little spider, that will сrowl on her body.
I was thinking of doing something like this then I realised that I would have to look at countless reference images of spiders, specifically spiders full of eggs/covered in baby spiders and I decided against it.
Yours is looking good, though!
The orange actually looks really good in-game, nice work.

Same, just looking at this gives me the wigy giggles all over me.
OnTopic: This idea is absolutly cool and gives a new meaning to " i am the carry!!"
I think it'd be cool if you brought in some of the original red again into the orange parts, maybe in the form of a gradients so that is starts off orange and as if falls into shadow/AO or just away from the main lit part, it turns into a dark red. A similar effect to what is going on on her original face with the red slowly turning into black as we move away from the areas of interest.
Testing in modelviewer and dota2ItemTest Tool.
Its a little dark in modelviewer cause some masks work wrong in it.
Also have no idea how i will assign babys to the bones to look correctly with standart butt.
Bensow, im just load them in Dota 2 ItemTest Tool, in dota2 client.
Damn, those little eggsacks look really creepy. Maybe you could change the texture a little bit so it looks a bit more white, therefore more slimy instead of metall-y. Otherwise looking great!
Hey Zalakzik, I am just wondering a thing. Did you use 3ds max to do this? And if you did, did you use broodmothers FBX files and rigged to them? Because If you are, I wonder how you got it in to the game? Because I cant get it to work on my own broodmother model in game.
But in other words, nice job on this one, it looks great!

Hardest part is coming, her back.
Im really need help with this one, how to improve dat tummy, any suggestions?
You should do this!
Oh man, its getting creepier and creepier.. but the little "things" on her head kind of kill that feel
This.

Lods allow to make only 2 spiders
i think i get what spudnik is saying though, the orange is pulling too a bit too far from her colour scheme. i'd maybe try a sunburst idea like this:
other than that fantastic so far.
Mind teaching me how do you test? I'm using blender too Wicked model I have to say
Bensow, im just export model with SMD Tool
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Blender_SMD_Tools
i dont care what anybody else says though, those spiderlings are adorable.
After export? Where do you put into to tesT?
After export SMD then? Use what to test?
