Honestly, this is probably a more useful link.

TreeGen looks like a good place to start. There's also SpeedTree, which tons of companies use, but that costs moneys.

Yeah. Its best to model them yourself.

but, if you need something quick to fill a scene then this is pretty good, simple and free.

Unless you use UDK, but, that's about it as far as "free" goes.
