Hopping into the
Nob Learning Challenge! The general idea I"m going for is an agile knight that uses two shields.
My ref sheet.
Some design sketches. My apologies for the image quality as I've not got a scanner. I found the thread just yesterday, so it's a bit of a short notice to set up something proper.

I think it would be nice for you to look at some ref. on the female body and build the body with the amount of heads like showed on this picture.

If you want there is a ton of good videos on ctrlpaint.com
Try look at some of the videos on constructive form and use that to build the shapes you want, It will help you a ton when you doing the 3d part

Thank you for the advice, good sir!
The base mesh is now done. I'm planning on creating another head as well as some hands with higher definition if I have the time.
and learn topology to make a good mesh for your model
try to follow tutorial on creating joan of arc,
http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/body1.php
IMHO its a good way to learn
basic human figure.
i suggest don't be too harsh on work
just slow down and follow part by part
make progress by time and learn something new
You're probably right, so I looked around for anything I could find on topology and restarted my base mesh. I'm not sure is Mr. I-Ninja is still going to keep the contest going, so if he doesn't post anything by the time I finish the hands and feet I'll push on by myself.
I will indeed! Head and hair done, starting on unwrapping.
I sculpted the high-poly model and baked the normal maps, but there's something that's confusing me a little. I noticed that at certain corners of my mesh the curved, high-poly details don't extend all the way to the edge of the more angular, low-poly mesh. Do I need to make sure that both meshes are roughly the same shape/silhouette or is there a way to deal with this?
Anyway, from my understanding, the low-res 's envelop gotta cover all of the hi-res.
Once again, thanks to everyone! Advice and critiques are greatly appreciated!
