long time fan of the work here. I was asked to post up work for critique through my school right now. I'm in the process of making a new portfolio and only have a few reworked characters as I'm still early in the process. Anyways, here's some of my work! And a few Zbrush pieces I've recently done.
I would love some critiques and like I said I'm really early in the process of doing a new portfolio so any advice would be great! Cheers. Keep up the good work all you artists!
I think for a student perspective your models are off to a good start. You're definitely a competent artist. Mind if I ask what school you're going to?
Oh yeah, sorry for lack of wireframes. I had to put this together way ahead of my own schedule for school. All of the models float around 2.5k polys until you get to the fat knight character, he's a bit higher but I forget what exactly.
I'm going to AAU in San Francisco right now
thanks everyone for your comments! Much appreciated.
These are a good start for where you are now, as a student. There are still some things that you need to address such as the form's fluidity(s-curves, less cylindrical legs) and proportions. Textures need some work as well, maybe by adding slight gradients to each section of solid color you have on your characters. Also, keep in mind that a material's specularity and gloss will help define what kind of material it is and will give your model an overall textural diversity/balance. Good luck.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'm trying to focus on all aspects of character design right now by cranking out characters non-stop. Here's my latest, it took me 2 weeks to do.
