this is awesome MrJones! I love her facial expression. It makes her seem like she's suffering from dementia which is probably not that far off from being a zombie.
I've been knocking this about in ZBrush today. Seems to be coming together although I'm having a bit of trouble with the flabby folds around the arms. And due to the stylised nature of the character, I'm not sure whether the collar bone is really working.
Ha ha yeah it is a bit disgusting. But the fatty forms are a lot of fun to sculpt. Thanks for the advice, I'll push it up a bit.
I think I need to just get the dress blocked in so I can see which areas I need to focus on getting right. And also there'll be less of the body I have to stare at. :poly122:
I love this sculpt and concept. Hahaha..My grandma used to hoard kfc in her purse! In yer 1st sculpt, she might look more female if you narrow the jaw a little. Collar bone looks fine to me..
Based on your latest updates, I may have to take back my "glasses" comment. You have a really awesome expression there and the glasses may take away from that, although there is no hair yet, so maybe they would still work. The vein in the forehead and upper arm wound are a nice touch. Very cool style and character. Based off your first post, you should have nothing to fear. Good luck!
Thanks a lot Jayson! I built some glasses but they just weren't working, I think that must be why. The hair is proving to be troublesome for the same reasons but I have to include that! I'm gonna have finish up a low poly pass before the weekend. Time is beginning to slip away!
Hey there fellow humans! Last day of the contest!!! Wooo! It's been a lot of fun to be a part of. Quick update of the Colour map. I still have a lot to do when I get home from work tonight. However, I'm lucky that I'm in the UK as 11:59 PM PST is 7:59 AM GMT tomorrow morning. So in theory I have all of the night to get the bag finished, make a specular pass and add some dirt, blood and more veins. Cutting it tight, but the rush is when it's at it's most fun.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! There's been some fantastic stuff being made. I hope it all gets finished and submitted! Here's a current colour pass for you all:
Okay so here it all is! I had a play around with adding animation but didn't have a lot of time to play with it in Softimage so I won't be entering the Frankenstein award.
But anyhow, I give you Dearest Grandma! She's wandered straight of Dullahan Grove retirement home. Not a lot had changed for this bitter old lady when she'd turned into a Zombie. Aside from a sudden taste for brains.
mrjones your concept and 3d model are both great, but probably because of the short time, you have completed texturing and shading too quickly, this model has a lot of potential in my opinion, and should be finished and posed properly. anyway awesome work man!
@LOad Yeah I agree, I think I could have spent a bit more time and care with the texturing. Lighting and presenting my work is probably my biggest weakness and it's a shame I had to do that at the very last minute.
But I'm still really pleased I managed to get to this stage. I'm definitely gonna come back to this later and work her up a bit more.

Okay here's the concept. Dearest old Grandma complete with bag full of hoarded organs!
Interested to hear what you think!

@Jayson: Thanks. That's helped make my mind up, I'm putting them in! I'll probably put a crack in one of the lenses too.
Any advice?
Thanks. :poly121:
oh, anatomy wise I think you could push her ass up some.

@MrJones: Looking so good (you know what I mean)!
I'm always afraid old Zombie like that...:poly115:
It's been a while since I posted progress so I'll try to post an update tonight.
Good luck everyone on their final week! Almost there! :poly124:
My weapon of choice for modelling the Low Poly was Softimage.
I had a bit of a muck about at work with the lovely Arnold Renderer to get these wacky High Poly renders.

One thing: For me, her current skin tone doesn't seem like she is dead!
Good luck!

Final Render:
Diffuse, Normal, Specular and Transparency:
And some other shots for the sheer joy of it.
NOW SLEEP! :poly142:
