Hey everybody, this is my inaugural post on the forums here at polycount. I'm a 2nd year Modeling student at George College in Toronto, Canada.

I had some free time today and finally got around to modeling Captain America's Shield from The Avengers. Its just a Hi-poly model for now, i plan on making a low-poly/textured and baked version as we start learning it in class.

All modeling was done in 3dsMax and screenshots were taken in Marmoset .

Any feedback would be great , Thanks!

If the front of your low poly shield is going to be smooth, and you're going to have the circular grooves in your high poly normaled, you'll want to loosen those edges up a good bit so they translate better in the bake. Other than that, it's looking pretty solid.

Always loved the damage close-ups of captain America's shield and Iron Man's armor at the end of Avengers. If that's how you plan to texture this, I'm very excited to track your progress.

Thanks for the feed back, and the tip on baking! Were going through the hi-poly to low - poly baking process in class on a retro coke machine so i figure ill keep this project running at the same pace.

And i'm definitely planing on texturing it damaged an beat up, there'd be no fun in leaving it nice and clean haha
