Hi all,
I've put together my concept for the latest Mixamo Character Creation contest. Here's the background...
He was a logger who mysteriously went missing. A year later he emerges, deformed and barely living, fused with an unknown matter. As he terrorizes the local village, the locals try to fight back

Fairly happy with how the concept turned out. Im still deciding on the colours and whether I should build a small tabletop for it. Also, Im trying a different creation process this time, Ill make the low poly first, finalize it and UV-map it. Then high poly, then bake the high onto the low.
Well see how it goes

I love the two sides.
Is that rotten flesh only, or are there vine/wood/moss elements mingled in the texture?
Looks really nice, danpaz.
The right side of his body will be a combo of all you mentioned (except wood).
It'll be vines/roots/flesh/moss and some small pumpkins/pumpkin texture.
Trying to conserve as many polys/triangles as possible so more detail can be added to the face and zombie side of the body later.
I'm pumped to see where you take this.
For the front of the body I'll be welding the edge of the infested part to the edge of the normal body (I plan on slightly messing up the symmetry line later). The back will be different as there'll be much more growth and most of the back will be infested.
Still going on the zombie side of the low poly. A couple of parts left.
If triangle count is good after everything is done then I'll definitely add more detail to the normal side of the body.
Completed the back and welded the two sides together. Also finished the hands. Triangle count is just over 8k so I'll leave it for now. Some small fixes needed as stated in the image.
I've finished off the low poly today and have successfully put the triangle count down to 9050 with the addition of more detail at the elbows and face. Combined with the eyes, teeth, mouth an not yet added hair sheets I'm hoping to keep it under 11000.
I've also quickly chucked it in Zbrush to see how the smoothing and sculpting look and it looks like it turned out ok.
Next update will show final low poly and UV layout.
Really happy with how it turned out. 3dsmax, Zbrush and Photoshop were used to create it.
And a video with short animation clip using the mixamo auto-rigger.

Anyway, more renders.
That's it!
