Come one, come all to the "The Just for Noobs Learning Challenge" The main point of the Challenge is to have more experienced members of Polycount teach a small group of less experienced members and help them in an objective based gourp of small mini challenges.
What will be in the challenge?
In the challenge the noobs will be working to complete small objectives where they will have to work alone with the guidance of the pros. Each objective will have it's own thread after the time limit as past the thread will be locked and will be reviewed by the pros (For example, Objective: draw a team of assassins, everyone most have there own character)
It's free to join
Requirements:
One 3d editer program
One Drawing/Panting program
Unity,UDK,or Source SDK
You must be a noob
If you need any more information just say so.
Challenge starts the 1st of October
Pros that are helping- Yeenke gilesruscoe JacqueChoi (when he has free time)
First objective is tomorrow!

Edit: I would also be interested even if it were set up as a mini class/tutorial thing (I just learn better in that setting, okay!) Like we have one or two leaders that give a description of the character or environment and then for the first part of the challenge everyone that is signed up submits their sketches, concepts, and turnarounds for feedback. If you get done early then you get the benefit of more time for feedback and revisions, if not well you still get to move on to the next step. That way we can all learn from our peers as well as from the more experiences people on this forum.
I am game for whatever, I just thought I would throw out this option in case there aren't enough people to be leaders.
There's a topic, every noob does whatever the topic is, posts it in a thread for the challenge and the pros review it..
Anyway, I'd be in to
As noob of course
I'd love to make some characters with the community. Hope to hear more soon!

Cheers!
Making alone a model, rigging it, posing, texturing and presenting it is really quite a challenge for a noob and doing this as team could end in chaos.
Lesser challenges would be to texture an already existing model (like the goblin model), model a small environment scene etc. which can be managed in time by a noob. Smaller digestible tasks would be great.
Further on I would just post a single thread for a challenge where everyone participating can post their wips, the pros will give most likely feedback and tips on their own, no need to chain them as mentor.
I'm really interested in such a challenge (=>noob).
Ps: almighty_gir,and JacqueChoi said that they will be droping in from time to time to help out.
(I still need more pros)
Ill be very disappointed if this vote ends with that.
I think it should be more open,, not everyone does character art or concept art. Since there are a lot of us interested why not branch each category into its own.
Wait is it characters? This is very confusing and not clear. Just make one environment and have everyone compete for the best or something to that effect, clean and simple, and easy to judge.

So its only for char artists + concept artists this round huh? Like I said earlier we should have a different contest for each category. I certainly dont want to do character stuff,,, or draw. If you change the category each round then only those interested in that category will have an incentive to participate.
Anyone want to set up an environment contest for us noobs? We could keep the same theme going just to speed things up.
