Check some of your Mental Ray settings because these renders seem very grainy and noisy. Also, some of your textures are very blurry and don't have discernable shapes or patterns, or structure, that help our eyes make out what the material quality is supposed to be. Also, the specularity of the objects all look the same, further decreasing believability. I would check to see if you have Final Gather on, and if you do, increase the accuracy quite a bit. Also you can try toggling on Global Illumination if you havent already.

Another big issue is your dark shadows. Try and get some ambient light flowing through the scene to give it a very low, evenly lit look. This is to make sure your shadows don't get super black. Just think of real life, how if this were a real place, under a counter wouldn't be pitch black. Once you have your scene with a very low, evenly lit appearance, you can then go in and add lights to get nice contrast and shadows. You can do this in many ways with Mental Ray, but I personally would suggest a rather large area light on very low to fill those dark areas.

Lastly, you have some nasty faceting on some of your objects that seem to be lower-poly than they should. (Like the chairs in the first render.) If this isn't Game Art, don't be afraid to try to render things in "3-mode" or smooth preview mode since it can give you a nice smooth look without actually adding the geo to your models... although if you're not familiar with the crease tool or holding edges hold off on that advice for now.

All in all it is a nice scene, it can just be cleaned up a lot.

Good luck with the future progress!

    edit: Final* Gather

Well this is for game art, so i was trying to limit my polys, also i have 3 different texture psds so alot of them are the same texture sheet, so do you think i need to add a light maybe hitting everything coming from the bottom of the scene, and try to add more contrast to the scene
