Russian language help

Hey there people!

I need some help with russian language!
I'd like to know about that floor plates which indicates what floor you are. Since I'm not american or english, after some google, I've found some info that says that in USA the "first floor" is actually the first floor of the building, and in England, the first floor is the "Ground floor".

Well, since this is really relative, in RUSSIA, how is this written and called? :poly142:

First floor in Russia is equivalent of "ground floor"
and we call it "первый этаж", what can be literally translated as "first floor"

what SuperFranky said is correct, though if you making some level and want to mark floors in some building, you'd better go with just numbers. Or just add word "этаж" next to the number - "1 этаж", "2 этаж".. etc. I don't think I ever saw someone marking floors with words instead of numbers.

As a quick note, "этаж" (Russian) is derived from the French word
