I stumbled across this today by happy accident, I've done a search on the forums and can't find anyone else linking to it and I believe it's definitely worth sharing. Wasn't sure where to stick it, so I apologise if there's a thread where people throw in handy scripts/plugins.

(I looked at the "Become more efficient" thread but I assumed that wasn't a place for software specific scripts)

Anyway, check this shit out!

I gave it a test run on a small character (with a CAT Rig) that was an absolute nightmare to skin, I can't post the results unfortunately but I can tell you that my mind hole got completely blown.

I realise it's probably not a good idea to make new threads about Maxscripts... but holy shit balls batman, I hope I'm not the only one who really digs this.

Tried it no too long ago, and it's nice, although it still has the same clunky issues as CAT originally does with dense models.

I've not tried it out on a dense model, I would imagine the transition smoothness would play a bigger part for that scenario? Then I guess you'd end up with a lot of "These bones are close enough to tidy up... but those are terrible"?

It reminds me of my rigs of yester-year where I'd duplicate the mesh, and break it up into the "chunks" similar to what those colours are doing, I used to love rigging like that and didn't even touch standard bones until a good few years later, and then came CAT which I fell in love with (though it is still weirdly buggy), but I digress.

So, for me... it's nice to sort of have "both"... I can stick with quick bone setups, AND have my loveable chunks.

Plus I'm a simpleton so the pretty colours on my models makes me all giddy.
