3ds max not displaying verts when I turn off Nitrous

For one reason or another 3ds max does not display vertex ticks when I turn off nitrous and switch to direct3d through customize>preferences. I know this for a fact because I did a simple reboot leaving nitrous still off and got the same results no verts. I then switched back to nitrous and rebooted and I had the verts. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Are you applying a DirectX shader to your objects? I'd usually not see any verts if that's the case.

I will try that method and yes I did apply xoulil shader to my it but even so I took it off and applied a standard material and got the same results. Weird bug it seems to be working now..
