Sketch groups

I'm thinking about trying to form a sketch group at my school.
Has anyone here ever been part of one or ran one?
I'm wondering if I should make it event driven like themes to sketch ,or just more of a group of people getting together and doing their own thing?
Opinions and suggestions are welcome.

I ran one for three years, though i recently let somebody take over and i dont go to it anymore as it changed too much from what i wanted.

Ours was really casual, for most of us it was a chance to unwind from uni/work, and nerd out about art theory and other things. A few times we tried themes, but it never went well.
I think its a good thing to do because a lot of us don't get that art nerd stimulation elsewhere.

Are you thinking of running it as a night pub thing, or a morning cafe thing?

Definitely not a morning thing. I work 5 days a week and start at 8am.
Most of the people that I've been talking to don't do any sort of game art so nerding out may not be in the future.
I'm thinking of starting it in our student commons and seeing if it grows from there. A pub night sounds good to me though.
Sorry if I sound a bit disjointed. It's morning and I'm still not completely awake.
