Hello polycount,
I have been digging around in substance designer and used it to texture my Ice Golem.
I sculpted the Golem first in Zbrush then retopo in 3d coat.
I then unwrapped in Modo and textured in Substance designer.
This image shows the power of substance designer and how you can change your design very quickly, all inside of Unity.
using world space normals I was able to tell substance designer that all normals facing up would receive a snow texture.
the orange cracks were created by a curvature map from the baked normal map, and the underlaying frost texture was done the same way as the snow texture.
changing colors is easy as well.
my sculpt from zbrush.
