Looking good for a block out. Are you just starting to try 3d? If so, I would suggest looking into how to do ambient occlusion, normal maps, texturing, or lighting. Right now those are the biggest things to improve from here. I would suggest to focus on one and try improving in that skill then trying something else.
Like working in zbrush to sculpting a highpoly version of your objects to get ambient occlusion and normal maps.
OR Working in photoshop and working on making textures for what you have. Try thinking of what each object is made out of and making that material in photoshop.
Adding lighting will help to bring shadows and more depth.
And yes I just started getting into Maya about a year ago. I've been working in maya just about everyday or so (If I'm not reading about maya and level design). Still trying to figure out on how to use Zbrush, but photoshop; Maya; and Bumpmapping will be something that I will be studying on. By the way nice 3D modeling that I saw in your video on youtube and your website.
I'am at this point, I just need more practice in it. I know I should use it in most of my projects, but first I wanted to get the basic modeling structure down. Thanks for the comment.

Here is a great place to help start: http://wiki.polycount.com/
What is the object on the table? A chess board of some kind?
Good luck to you.
