I'm looking to eventually start development on a UDK (Unreal Development Kit) game. I have a lot of hobby game development experience, but really no idea how to go about asking for help. If I could get a couple of answers as to how things generally work around here I would appreciate it greatly...
1. How much information is enough information generally? I have a very unique idea, and while I am not entirely paranoid, I am a bit worried about someone else stealing the concept if I spell it out entirely.
2. When it comes down to it, I have no money to invest in paying employees. I know there are certain rules around the UDK concerning monetary gain. If this game were to be made with care, it could become extremely popular. Is it unusual or frowned upon to have a 'divide up the profits if the game takes off' sort of model?
3. When people get together to make something like this, is there generally a lot of legal stuff involved? With very little money, I don't want to have to spend anything on copyrighting a studio name or the work involved in hiring employees. I'd like to know if anyone here has done this kind of thing in the past, what kind of legal issues did you have to include before you could start working?
Any input would be fantastic.
