Hi! I'm extruding the back part of this character, but the borders are separated. I try to merge the vertices but it doesn't work. How should I do that?
All the vertices that lie on the edge that needs to be welded to the other half need to be exactly aligned to the axis that you are mirroring, otherwise, it won't work correctly.
In order for merging to work you need to have them pretty much on top of each other. What you should do is select all verts down the middle seam and scale them in on that axis. This will close the seam you have and make sure the verts are on top of each other. Then the merge vertices tool with work.
maybe some key to do that? because i'm aligning them and then merging, but when I try to separate those vertex to see if that worked, they sepparate, but really slow
It's best to scrub the scale handle in a few times to get them close. Merge vertices (by default) will always merge if only two verts are selected. The default merge tolerance is too high for my tastes, so echoing what BARDLER says.
Smooth mesh preview will let you know pretty quick if there's any issues in your topology, like unwelded vertices or backward faces.
That arrow flyoff thing on the top, are you trying to weld that in as well? If so, best practice not to, it creates non-manifold geometry where a surface changes direction twice in one vertex.
Something new and wrong appears now in my model =( I did Combine First and joined the middle edges and vertex, that's all right. But now, when I keep extruding the body, something weird happens.
Do you know why is that for? I can't keep modeling like this!

Extrude one half of the model and snap the verts that are in the mid to the center.
When completed mirror, merge verts and border/edges. It should to be in the mesh menu.
Before deleting the history under the transformation panel to the right, click mirror, and set the threshold to 0.001 or 0.01 and delete history.
For the second part:
In order to extrude the polygons you need to select the edges. You cant extrude verts and edges at the same time.
hold right click on the model. Select verts, mar-key select in the empty space to de-select the verts. Hold right click on the model again and select edges.
