im using projection RTT normals, this is a test bake. This is what im getting. Could this be because I moved the meshes so far from the origin? because these are weird colors Im getting. Im not getting any ray misses.
I don't even...I tried hiding all other geometry and moved them to align still nothing must be missing something. Still trying to test bake. My UVs are fine, Im not getting major ray misses...
My usual fall back plan in cases like this is to reset x-form and/or create a box (align to your object) > convert box to edit mesh > attach to "problem" mesh > delete box element in sub-object mode.
Often when I get an issue like this and don't know the reason, I try exporting them and quickly check them in another program, such as XNormal, just to narrow down the issue. If it still persist in XNormal, then the issue is with the models themselves, and not your 3ds max settings.
back form darksiders, lol. anyways I can get it to look fine in Xnormal. but it still does the same in max. I could export all my low polys and high polys as 1 object and bake them that way but that would be a last resort. im gonna try somthings...
I cant seem to figure this out...ive tried everything mentioned... I can work around it though by using Xnormal for all my baking. If I run in to this issue with other projects I will divulge into the solution further...or reinstall max :P
you could post the mesh or a decimated version of it.I would be happy to take a look at it.
you are not using mental ray I hope? I always use scanline for my baking.

Also do you have Max 2.5 Star and supersampling enabled? Just curious if you're using Mental ray or scanline.
