Hey guys, starting this contest as well. I'm looking to make a character that fits the mountain profile but has a good balance between creature and human.
Here are the initial head ideas
Thanks, yeah was trying to incorporate that idea with mountain animals such as rams or mountain goats. Hopping to get all the base model sculpt done toady and get basic armor mocked up. For armor i am thinking of going with a viking feel. Leathers and furs with small amounts of metal here and there. Torso is going to be bare with straps and war tattoos.
Well I think I'd go with 1 - it's more anatomically correct from what I can see.
But since his stomach and intercostal muscle area will all be visible, you could probably gain from adding more definition there like you have in 2 - just following the anatomy you have in 1. Or you can keep him slightly less defined.
But I feel that 1 is best - I'm still learning myself, so hopefully some one with more experience could assist.
Both look good imo. But it's not a human so you don't need to be really "anatomically correct". And muscles are different from one person to another, so...
I think that the front view is better on 2, but the back is better on 1. The most important is not to do something "real", it's to do something which could be real if it existed.
@Texelion good point there, I keep switching between the two: either beast or human. Need to get my head round the merging of both concepts to create something new.
I think for now, since i have already worked on the arms of no.2 a bit more, i will keep that version but try and ammend some of both your ideas. I think softening the muscles a little on the front and work a little more on the back. Thanks guys much appreciated
I like nr2, honestly I think its just personal taste. there is one thing I noticed though, made a paintover.
sorry for the crappy paintover, but his stomac should be pushing out a bit more, the marco shapes could use a little bit more shape.
@Zenful - OMG that is very helpfull. Thank you for the link. @lotet - I see what you mean, thankyou for the paintover. I definitely helps the pose. Will check against the legs as well to make sure the figure flows.
Hey guys, I got an update on the sculpt. Its pretty much finished and waiting to be remeshed. Just found out the comp has been extended so able to show more progress now.
Hey Guys, After alrady unwrapping and baking the version above. I decided to make some changes to try and improve the model. I started with re-doing the belts and skirt. Let me know which shoulder belts you prefer, the new below or the ones from the old model. Also cant decide on the skirt options below. Let me know if there are any other changes or improvements needed.
