while this is again very nice, and the shapes work really well. I think it doesn't look very dwarfish the proportions are small but somewhat normal. i would assume that dwarves are supposed to look quite a bit different from human proportions, otherwise they would be just small people.
They are about 5.5 heads high. A generic normal person is somewhere around 8 heads or even 9 for tall people. Maybe the perspective gives the wrong impression.
Great work so far, and nice fit with the orcs. gotta agree with Neox though, they look a little tall for Dwarves. They're very close, but like the Hobbit Dwarves they look more like regular people in odd-sizzed clothes. It might just be a matter of proportion distribution between arm length, head size, etc.
this is better than your typical cliche rpg dwarf that is extremely short and overly wide... I couldn't remember if it was a dwarf or a midget that had relative body size or not so I googled it to check
Dwarf - An abnormally small person, often having limbs and features atypically proportioned or formed.
Midget - An extremely small person who is otherwise normally proportioned.
(I knew a girl that was under 4 foot 9 which I believe is the hight limit for the term and she looked like a "normal" person but shrunk down)
the thing is with your standard game dwarf, they always seem to be fat/muscular and wide but arnt accurate to the actual dwarf term either...
the head size of a dwarf is typically larger than normal for the body size, this is a distinct characteristic of a dwarf... you could just change the name to midget and be done with it lol :P
man once again really good work. i also prefer this kinda dwarfs i always disliked the usual ones. i think the reason why they seem taller is because of the armor and not necessarily the proportions but i might be wrong anyway really good work. might i ask if you were inspired by gears of war on some parts of the armor i notice you have the same kind of stitching connecting plates same with your orc and i was just curious!
Yeah, really awesome, everyhting looks so... perfect. Even maybe too perfect, everything looks clean and new, could be cool to do some worn parts.
For the proportions, "real" dwarfs and classical fantasy dwarfs are not the same, and yours don't look like anyone of them, but it' not a problem. At least they look better than the ones in The Hobbit movie ^^.

its just the "basemesh" i would assume, the clean highpoly, no sculpting done so far
these are really fantastic man love the gear, feels very Epic Games to me, stitching on every edge, and lots of layered forms. Would love to see what you are doing for your render setup.

I just want to clarify a common misconception, here. Average people aren't 8 heads tall, and nowhere near 9 heads tall. Most people are 7.5 heads tall, with 8 being 'tall' and 8.5 being 'real damn tall'.
5.5 heads tall is pretty dwarfy (around 4 ft 4 in), so it's probably just the perspective throwing people off.
Thanks for all the comments. I agree with you, there should be more worn parts. Basically everything is Polymodeling excluding the head and torso. There is already a lot of Zbrush detailing though, but it's rather subtle (not very visible in the renders) and I learned that I have to do more visible details in ZBrush. I Don't mind them being tall dwarfs though. Does anyone have some tips on good clayrenders, these are just scanline renders without AO (one simple skylight and lighttracer). An other problem is that I have imported the detail at a very high resolution in 170 XREF files and proxies with total: 3.27 GB. It takes forever to open the file in max, and makes it almost unworkable. Anyone have any tips?
Really nice work man, for my personal taste they're a little to long, but hey, variation is great
The detailsm are really well done! More damage and battle scars would be my only constructive feeedback
These threads of yours just blow my mind, I love how much variety there is in the shapes in your work and for having so much detail the designs still seem well balanced and readable.
I do agree with some of the other posters here that their limbs seem a bit long to be dwarves (at least in the typical fantasy sense, or reality.) They mostly just look like artistically stylized short humans. That's not necessarily a bad thing though...

random idea, take a look at Peter Dinklage (tyrion lannister)http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/22900000/Tyrion-Lannister-tyrion-lannister-22907620-1397-2100.jpg

Great work though.
With the wrong lighting maybe, but it's no more detailed than the Gears3 guys and they look pretty damn sweet in-game.
