I found that I have a harsh edge on the lip of a character im doing, and found out it was a smoothing group issue. I corrected it and it broke the UV`s! As in they disappeared., it also does this when I edit the mesh. Is there a way to adjust the mesh without destroying my UV maps ? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you're using max (smoothing groups). Yeah, you can - it should be easy to do and work regardless of whether you're editing an edit poly/mesh lower in your stack or if you're adding a new modifier.

Could you describe the process you're following when it breaks? What does your modifier stack look like?

I used unwrap UVW on top of edit poly. After finishing the UV`s on a mesh I found out it still had tris for some reason and there was a smoothing group error on the lip I fixed both of them and the UVs broke.

If it's an editable poly, there is a Preserve UVs checkbox in the modify panel. That will allow you to do things like move vertices and cut faces without it destroying your UVs.

Thanks man! I loved u guys I would never be as far as I am without polycounts help!
