Hi there,

We recently launched http://sketchfab.com, a free service to publish 3D models online without plugin, using WebGL and HTML5.

We support more than 20 native 3D formats, as well as normal maps, specular, lights, diffuse, transparency...

And you can embed our viewer on any webpage, and customize options like autospin, autostart, controls directly in the embed code. Here is an example below.

Give it a try and tell us what you think!

Best,

the Sketchfab team

seems really cool, and sleeker than some of the others. Having trouble exporting from maya though. Not having any luck exporting a obj with a texture, do you guys have a recommended workflow for maya users?

Nice presentation, very smooth, I like it! The browse page is a bit painful to go through, I'd prefer a "next page" over the current "show more". Or have more previews get added in. A button to toggle texture flats display would be nice too.

It might be a big deal to some, but the models and textures are easily downloadable with little effort.

@ericdigital we support obj file but you have to provide the mtl file (material that reference your textures). you can put all those files into a directory. zip it and send it. Btw we are looking for someone to code a maya plugin to export directly from maya to Sketchfab, using our API, like we did for 3dsMax. Do you know any one?

@throttlekitty Agreed for the "show more", we are working on it :) and regarding the texture flat display, did you try the shadeless option in the edit box? As for the models security, we will soon add some privacy options. We just wrote a post about that yesterday: http://blog.sketchfab.com/why-webgl

Is it possible to install this on my own site? I'm kind of nervous about hosting stuff on other peoples' servers for a variety of reasons (twice the chance at downtime, messier to update, etc) and am kind of a control freak.
