3DS Max scene textures

Hi all, I am a bona fide noob with 3DS Max. I am going through a lot of beginner tutorials. At the same time I also downloaded a city scene just to see how something complex would look before rendering. I notice the roads, a few buses, and one building are textured, but everything else is without texture. The image maps for all the buildings are in the maps folder so I'm a bit clueless as to why everything else is gray. Any thoughts?

Sometimes Max doesn't play nicely when you move a scene between machines and place the folder in a different location. Are you using projects and setting the project folder?

If I need to and it's just to open a file, I usually just fix it by placing all my textures in the same folder as the .max file before I load it.

Thanks for the ideas. On a hunch I did place the .max file into the same folder with the image maps after the first time I loaded the scene and everything was gray. After I did that was when one building and a few autos were textured. I haven't looked into project settings or project folders. Thanks.
