Hi guys. I'm currently working on a room environment concept piece based on one of the rooms in Level-5 headquarters (The guys who make the Professor Layton games)
I've just come across a problem when creating one of the furniture pieces. It's actually those small white stool type things surrounding the middle table as you can see from the image below.

The stools themselves are cylindrical with a half cylinder cut out from either side. I'm having a bit of trouble doing this efficiently and cleanly with the boolean tools. I was just wondering if there was any other methods you guys could think of.
As you can see below, this is what I have tried.

The Boolean operation comes out a bit rough like below and I'm having trouble thinking of how to alter the verts to get my desired shape.

Its easy for me to do this with almost any other entity but of course the curvature around the rest of the stool relies on correct placement of the vertical planes on the side so obviously I can't alter these. I'm fairly new and a bit of help would be much appreciated.

But anyway! If I'm not mistaken there's a hole going right through it, not just cut out shapes at the sides, so what you'd do is that you first have the blockout cylinder for the main shape, without any height segments, cut out a circular shape following a reference cylinder, and add some supporting edges, like so:
there we go, prolly better ways to do it, but always worked well for me
Im no pro, but that what i got in result:
Thanks again for your time!
