Hello everyone
I think I might also join this contest, found out about it yesterday and just couldn't miss it.
here are the inspiration references, probably going to first draw a concept art of my own rather than sculpting from imagination.
As you could guess I aim for a female knight.
Good luck to everyone.

the work will go slowly, have lack of free time. hope to finish concept as soon as possible, because already have a whole concept in my mind.
and no, your weapons must be inside the 2048 map, but you can do 4x 1024 maps instead if u wish. and yes, you need to have a shield.
I guess I will have to model a shield, but not right now. first I want to finish this model.
I like the flow of the character, it works very nicely!
the sculpt of the body is probably done, I will still chande the proportions a bit but right now going to sculpt the sword and the shield. time is my enemy right now...
I have done low poly of the body and everything that connects to it. it's only 8500 triangles right now. but there still is a shield, a sword, a small dagger and hair to make. so I'm not going to do anything just yet, if the amount of triangles is a lot less that 15000 than I have to add them somewhere, maybe face, don't know yet.
this retopology was done in zbrush.
going to unwrap it now.
and I should probably think about color variantions.
Keep it up otherwise!
I agree with Texelion about the colors. Even if you didn't think about it, there could be some nice strengths from drawing from that. It would look really nice if you used the gradient from bottom dark to light top in the coloring.
I really look forward to seeing this complete! Good Luck!
sofabound, yeah I didn't really think about the functionality when I was doing a design. it's too late to change anything when there is not much time left.
right now I was testing the textures of just the body, not weapon or shield. there are still lots of smal problems that I have to fix.
for now I have this:
I suggest you add some details ont the half pants too, some stitches maybe, it looks really flat here.
almost finished the model:
you need to mix some blues, greens, purples, into the brighter metals, give it some vibrance, some colour! give it a sense of life!
the biggest problem with the final image is that nothing pops, it all just reads as really flat, and that's a shame. crank up that contrast and make those materials stand out! that leather shouldn't look like red skin! her belt buckle looks the same colour as the leather strap on her leg... you see what i'm getting at here?
lotet, don't know about the facial expression, but I definitely am going to change metal. hope I will not ruin it.
Gemstigma, good to hear that
small update with the textures, soon going to change more, right now not spending a lot of time because of this extension ). also thinking about creating a pedestal.
