Hey guys, Im having some problems with zooming in perspective mode in 3ds max 2011.

When i center my mesh in the view, and zoom in a lot, the zoom sort of goes through the object. Its like the camera physically moves when i zoom in too much.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I know this didnt happen in 3ds max 9

(btw im using the x64 version if that matters)

Right-click on Perspective and tick : Viewport Clipping.

Play with the sliders until it stops clipping.

hmm sorry i didnt explain very well. Im not talking about near plane clipping.

What i mean is that when i zoom in, the actual focus point of the camera moves.

Like normally, if you keep on zooming in, the camera will get closer to the focus point. In mathematical terms this would be so the camera's distance from the focus point would be 1/(amount of zoom) meaning the more i zoom, the closer the camera would be to the focus point.
    Thats what SHOULD be happening.

Currently though, if i zoom in too much, the focus point moves. I dont want the focus point to move, i want the camera to get closer to the focus point, but NOT past it.

Its really troublesome because I have my camera perfectly centered on my mesh, but then if i zoom in too much the camera moves "through" the mesh so when i pan the view the mesh isnt in the center anymore.

also if i click "zoom extents" the screen centers correctly on the selected mesh and panning works fine, but if i zoom at all, the focus point resets to around 5 meters in front of the camera, and then panning doesnt rotate correctly around the object.
